"The TF is to be built in Longbridge and Nanjing. It is to be available with a number of different engine options: the K-series 1.8 135bhp model, which is to be launched in July, followed by TOYOTA powered four cylinder engines, including a 230bhp VVT.
Hands up who wants a 230bhp MG TF. Yup. Thought so.
Then the saloon/hatchback cars. There will be an MG 7, an MG4 and an MG 2. These are all to be built - lock, stock and barrel - in China.
The MG 7 is going to be available in front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and - wait for it - four wheel drive. This bloke claims there are plans for V8 versions, but also a 3.2 litre V6, also producing around 230bhp. The cars will start becoming available in August, and the price for the 3.2 litre V6 version will be around £14,000. Which is about the same price as a Walkers Grab Bag. Or at least its the same price as a Walkers Grab Bag in the pub I've just been in.
Then there will be an MG 4 and an MG 2. These will look identical to the old models - no sheet metal changes - but with upgraded floorpans, Lotus suspension and some new engines - including the Toyota engine options.
In terms of timescales, NAC-MG are apparently already receiving parts from this blokes company and they're almost ready to roll. He reckons all the cars will be coming back to Europe this year.
How true any of this ends up being, who knows? But its all interesting speculation. If only half of what he says is near the mark, it could be very exciting, but hey, it's just pub talk.
Now, if you excuse me, it's been a long day, I'm a hundred miles from home, and there's a beer with my name on it calling me from the bar. Next time I post from here I intend to be recovering from a mighty fine hangover. Wish me luck."
