       Tata investit 960 millions d'euros  pour accroître les capacités de son usine de Pune (en Inde)
       L'usine emploie déjà 12 000 personnes et produit 450 000 véhicules par an (Indica hatchback, Indigo sedan, Safari SUV et TL 4x4 pickup)., la production va être élevée à 600 000 véhicules/an d'ici à 5 ans avec 1500 personnels supplémentaires.
       La Nano est produite dans une autre usine à Singur près de Calcutta.
       Les projets de Tata Motors s'élèvent à 4 milliards de Dollars US pour le marché indien et  le marché international.

Tata invests 960 million euros in Pune plant

Tata Motors, the new owner of Jaguar and Land Rover, is investing 6 billion rupees (960 million euros) to expand its factory in western India.

The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Maharashtra, which will help expand the factory in Pune, 150km east of Mumbai.

It will also set up vehicle testing facilities at the plant, which currently builds the Indica hatchback, Indigo sedan, Safari SUV and TL 4x4 pickup.

About 12,000 people work at the Pune factory. The plant currently produces 450,000 vehicles a year.

The investment will create 1,500 additional jobs and increase capacity to 600,000 when it is completed in the next five years.

Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Motors, said, " This [agreement] with the government of Maharashtra is a step toward realizing Tata Motors' plans to augment capacity at the Pune plant to meet ever increasing customer expectations and demands both in India and abroad. "

The plant will manufacture the company's range of commercial and passenger vehicles except the microcar, Nano, which will be made at a new plant being built in Singur, West Bengal, near Calcutta.

Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said, "The Tata Motors' plant in Pune has contributed significantly to the development of the region in and around Pune. I am happy that Tata Motors will bring in fresh investment in its existing plants and also invest in vehicle testing facilities, both of which will lead to additional employment opportunities."

Tata Motors will invest 60 billion rupees (1 billion euros) to expand manufacturing capacities over four to five years, Managing Director Ravi Kant said at a news conference yesterday.

Tata Motors, which last week announced a $2.3 billion (1.5 billion euros) deal to buy Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor and will start selling the low-priced Nano later in the year, has said it plans to raise $4 billion for its local and overseas plans.

Je viens de voir que depuis février 2005, l'indien Tata et l'anglais Stadco ont signé un accord de "Joint venture" qui concerne aussi bien les modèles de Tata  destinés au   marché indien que les modèles en préparation pour le marché européen et américain. Cet accord  porte notamment sur le design et l'ingineering...

Tata AutoComp Systems (TACO), part of the Tata Group, India and Stadco Ltd of the UK today signed a 50/50 joint venture, which will see Stadco's strong and proven expertise in the European car industry allied to TACO's manufacturing automotive component strengths in the highly skilled, low cost Indian environment.

The objective of the unique JV, to be known as TACO STADCO Automotive, is to offer a low cost 'offshore' body systems design and development resource for global component suppliers and vehicle makers, which will bring technology and knowledge to the Indian automotive industry.

Stadco is an acknowledged leader in body-in-white (BIW) - the basic sub-structure of the modern car body - engineering and manufacture. In 2004 it acquired the former Mayflower Vehicle Systems UK business, including its well- established product design and development capability. TACO has extensive involvement in the Indian automotive component sector, which includes stamping and BIW capabilities via its Automotive Stampings and Assemblies business, which supplies components to Tata Motors and other vehicle makers based in India. TACO also has three engineering centres, in partnership with Johnson Controls Incorporated, Faurecia and its own.

The first phase of the new JV will see the establishment of a product engineering centre in Pune, India, which will provide European technology and know-how to Indian vehicle makers seeking to develop new products and also offer a service design and development capability to European and US customers seeking to take advantage of low-cost design engineering services.

Further phases of the JV will build on these beginnings, initially offering the ability to manage programmes, both within and outside India, seeking a low cost tool development and manufacturing environment. In due course it is intended to provide a BIW manufacturing and assembly facility to service the Indian market, with potential for exports at a later stage.

D S Gupta, managing director, TACO said: "Modern, cost effective and high-strength BIW systems are core to the development of contemporary passenger vehicles and we are confident that the JV with Stadco will help us make real advances in these areas based on its worldwide knowledge. We are delighted to have been able to forge this JV and look forward to the considerable industrial benefits it would bring to TACO and its customers.

Andrew Morriss, managing director, STADCO, said: "Accessing the highly skilled, low cost base of the Indian motor industry is critical to the success of our customers. Therefore, we could look for no better partner than TACO, an integral member of the Tata Group. We believe that genuine benefits will flow to both parties in this JV and look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship".

Stadco
Stadco, part of the privately-owned Acertec Group, is one of the fastest growing players in the global market for body-in-white technology. Its acquisition in mid 2004 of the former Mayflower Vehicle Systems business doubled its turnover to more than €300 million and provided it with some of the most advanced press shop facilities and sub assembly operations in the industry. The company operates from eight sites in the UK and two in Germany, including a major presence at Ford's Saarlouis facility in Germany where it manufactures BIW assemblies for the new Focus model. Other major clients include BMW, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin and MG Rover.

TATA a acheté une nouvelle usine, celle de  Nissan en  Afrique du Sud. Cela fait partie de leur plan pour investir les marchés étrangers.

On sait maintenant à quoi servira  l'usine de Rosslyn achetée à Nissan en 2006, ce sera pour y produire des camions et des bus, Tata Motors tisse sa toile, les indiens  possèdent  une autre usine en Afrique du Sud  depuis quelque temps  dans laquelle ils envisagent de produire l'Indica  :

Tata Motors va établir une usine d’assemblage à Rosslyn, en Afrique du Sud, sur un site racheté à Nissan en 2006. Le constructeur indien commencera à y produire des camions et des autobus prochainement. « Le projet est finalisé ; nous pourrons démarrer notre activité très rapidement », a déclaré Ravi Kant, directeur général de Tata Motors.

S’exprimant à l’occasion d’un sommet indo-africain, M. Kant a en outre indiqué que Tata commencerait bientôt à assembler des pick-ups au Sénégal, auquel il fournit déjà des autobus sous forme de collections, et qu’il avait lancé une étude de faisabilité en vue de l’assemblage de véhicules utilitaires au Congo. « L’Afrique est un marché important pour Tata », a souligné M.Kant. « Nous fournissons essentiellement des véhicules pour les transports publics du continent, mais l’opportunité de percer dans le transport individuel de passagers se présente et la Nano pourrait très bien convenir dans ce domaine », a-t-il expliqué. Feu vert UE au rachat de Jaguar et Rover
Les services européens de la concurrence ont donné leur feu vert au rachat des marques automobiles Jaguar et Land Rover par l'indien Tata Motors, a indiqué aujourd'hui la Commission européenne.

Le dossier a été examiné selon la procédure dite simplifiée, utilisée pour les opérations ne posant a priori pas de problème de concurrence.

Tata Motors avait annoncé en mars vouloir racheter les deux marques britanniques au géant automobile américain Ford pour 2,3 milliards de dollars. Le groupe indien va ainsi faire son entrée sur le marché des voitures de luxe.

Confirmation aujourd'hui du rachat par Tata de Land Rover et Jaguar : la signature avait lieu à Gaydon (UK).



Pour l'instant, aucune information sur l'utilisation du nom ROVER, ce qui est logique puisqu'il s'agit pour le moment de la finalisation de l'achat des marques anglaises et non de la présentation de  la future stratégie.

Tata signs 'momentous' Jaguar Land Rover deal

The £1.15 billion takeover of Jaguar Land Rover by India’s Tata Motors has been officially confirmed.

The deal marking the handover from Ford was signed by senior executives today (Monday) at a low key ceremony at JLR’s corporate headquarters at Gaydon, in Warwickshire.

Tata chairman Ratan Tata was present at the ceremony along with Don Leclair, Ford’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Lewis Booth, Ford’s executive vice president with responsibility for Europe.

Mr Tata said: "This is a momentous time for all of us at Tata Motors. Jaguar and Land Rover are two iconic British brands with worldwide growth prospects.

"We are looking forward to extending our full support to the Jaguar Land Rover team to realise their competitive potential."

He confirmed that the two marques would retain their "distinctive identities" and also reaffirmed his company’s commitment to JLR’s latest business plan.

"We recognise the significant improvement in the performance of the two brands and look forward to this trend continuing in the coming years.

"It is our intention to work closely to support the Jaguar Land Rover team in building the success and preeminence of the two brands," he added.

In a statement, Tata confirmed that David Smith, whop has been acting chief executive of the two companies, would be staying on as the new CEO of the business.

Mr Smith, who has 25 years of experience with both Jaguar Land Rover and Ford, said he was pleased the deal had been finally concluded.

"We are very pleased with the association with Tata Motors. We look forward to a sustained bright future for the company and its stakeholders," he said.

The £1.15 billion deal has been concluded on a cash free, debt-free basis. The purchase consideration includes the ownership by Jaguar and Land Rover or perpetual royalty-free licences of all necessary intellectual property rights, manufacturing plants, two advanced design centres in the UK, and a worldwide network of dealers.

Ford has also contributed around £300 million to the JLR pension plans.

Long term agreements have also been agreed for the supply of engines, stampings and other components to Jaguar Land Rover. Other areas of transition support from Ford include IT, accounting and access to test facilities.

The two companies will continue to cooperate in areas such as design and development sharing platforms and jointly developing hybrid technologies and powertrain engineering.

Ford will continue to provide financing for Jaguar and Land Rover dealers and customers for a transition period.

Tata Motors also said talks were at an advanced stage with leading auto finance providers to support the Jaguar Land Rover business in the UK, Europe and the US. It is expected to select financial services partners shortly.

LONDON -- Tata Motors today named David Smith new CEO for Jaguar and Land Rover.

Smith is Jaguar and Land Rover's chief financial officer. He has been the company's acting CEO since the April 20 death of CEO Geoff Polites.

Smith, an Englishman, is a veteran Ford finance and strategy expert.

He was appointed Jaguar and Land Rover's Chief Financial Officer on March 1.

Before that, Smith was director of finance and strategy for Ford of Europe and the Premier Automotive Group.

Smith has held numerous finance and strategy positions with Ford since he joined the U.S. automaker in 1983. He worked on assignments in Switzerland, the U.S., Asia and Turkey.

He has been a director of Jaguar Land Rover since the early 1990s.

During the past eight years, Smith played a big part in helping to revive the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

He also had a key role in Ford's sale of Aston Martin last year.

Tata today completed the deal to buy Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor.

Tata agreed on March 26 to buy Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford for $2.3 billion. Tata said the deal would be completed during the second quarter of this year.
